Software Developer in Test

About the role:

Intermedia is looking for a motivated Software Development Engineer in Test who is eager to improve the stability and quality of Intermedia’s fast-growing cloud UCaaS platform. The Software Engineer will work closely with Development, QA, and Operations teams with a focus on reliability, performance, scalability, and high availability of Intermedia’s real-time UCaaS platform. The ideal candidate will have Software Development, QA Automation, and Site Reliability experience in a cloud VoIP environment.

What you will be doing:

  • Define and build tools and frameworks for automated testing challenges including functional, load, resiliency, performance and stress testing in a cloud platform or enterprise scale environment.
  • Establish processes and tools set to maintain automation scripts and generate regular test reports.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and isolate defects and report them to an issue and project tracking software.
  • Take part in all application development life cycle phases, according to the agreed Test Strategy.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure to continuously run harnesses, load tests, use-case tests and more
    • Load, Stress, performance
    • Production equivalent test scenario
    • System and Application Failure Scenarios
    • External load (api, logging, UI,)
  • Work with operations team to understand real-world production scenarios and replicate in QA lab.
    • Understanding production load, call patterns,
    • Understand direct interaction (database, api calls, portal, etc) and
    • Understand indirect interactions (disk io related to other systems in environment), power failures, network failures.
  • Research and recommend best practice testing techniques for highly reliable cloud-based VoIP platforms

What you will bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent related work experience
  • 3+ years of experience as an SDET, developer, or strong Automation Engineer
  • Experience with QA concepts and methodology
  • Experience with Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis
  • Experience working in a UNIX/Linux environment, using virtual machines and containers
  • Knowledge of industry standard test automation tools and experience developing product test harnesses
  • Proven experience creating automation frameworks and tools to support test automation preferably in VoIP, UCaaS or CaaS
  • Proven experience with Continuous Integration
  • Good analytical skills
  • Outstanding communication skills (English), proactive, problem solver, team player

Desired Qualifications

  • Working experience in VoIP domain test automation (SIP, RTP, SIP/TLS, SRTP, Audio quality)
  • Working Experience with VoIP tools like SIPp, StarTrinity is HUGE PLUS
  • Working Experience with scripting languages like Bash, Python, Perl
  • Proficient with Jenkins, Git, JIRA, Confluence, TestRails
  • Automation experience in VoIP, UCaaS or CaaS
  • Experience mentoring/training other developers on complex technical issues
  • Working experience with Agile development incorporating CI
